SP crashing on linux?

Just rented a server from eoreality, and they're some variant of *nix server. Installing cs:go in Linux Mint 17 to see if its something else.

Seems to crash way before SP is even attempting to load. You should at least see this message if the crash was caused by anything during the loading process.

It was loading fine when renaming source-python.vdf, so I'm pretty sure it was the provider with their imaging thats causing it. Did load up fine in a VM.

It could be the SteamCMD console messing up displaying the path. On another note, however, my SteamCMD is showing only 1 slash each time so there could be something inherently wrong with the paths, aswell.

My SP isnt loading.

If i rename addons to addons1 the server starts fine, (obviously without source python) but renaming the addons folder to its proper name, the server crashes.

what was done to fix the issue?

Please add -condebug, -debug and +developer 1 to your command line. Then start your server with Source.Python and post the resulting console.log and debug.log. Do you have other server plugins beside Source.Python installed?

Edit: And I assume you want to run CS:GO under Linux. Is that right?

not getting condebug or debug log files though.

Interesting, SP says it cannot initialize python, and i even went to the length of installing python and python-devel.

What version are you using? Also, if you check into the ../cfg/source-python/ folder, is there a core_settings.ini file created?

latest version of SP, 8/28/2016

core_settings.ini exists, and the paths within seem to be correct as well.

just installed libcurl.i686 , hopefully i can read the dumpfile now without it failing to upload

edit: server is definitely crashing while loading SP - (i have removed -debug and -condebug so that hopefully i can read the console while the server tries to start)

im a bit upset that it isnt spitting out the contents of the dump file.

edit 2: just tried renaming addons to addons1 again, server starts with no issues :confused: :confused: :confused:

edit 3: checked to make sure glibc was up to date...

The option -condebug will write the whole console output into the console.log. The option -debug will generate a debug.log when your server crashes.

However, since when do the crashes occur? I see in your old forum posts that you already had a working installation. If you just updated the SP version, did you follow these steps? http://wiki.sourcepython.com/general/updating.html

I had one running on my windows machine but am starting to try to work on my (free) AWS VM.

any ideas based on my input above @Ayuto

Make sure to set both "level" and "areas" to "5" into the "LOG_SETTINGS" section of the "core_settings.ini" file so the initialization process can be fully logged into the console.log file that Ayuto mentionned above.

I'm not sure what you did, but it is messed even more. You passed from failing to load the __init__.py file causing SP to unload itself (as shown in this post) to crash right after this line in the loader.

Welp. good thing im on AWS and i can happily just blow this VM up and start all over in a matter of minutes.

fresh install, EXACT SAME PROBLEM, however i would like to note that this time i dont have a core_settings.ini and it doesnt look like SP has run at all

might try all this again on a different distro of linux when i wake up in the morning. not really sure where to go from here so if anyone on here has some input about installing on RHEL please let me know because i would rather use RHEL over any other linux

No core_settings.ini → permissions issues. Give write permissions to the ../cfg/ folder.

Replacing the load method into ../addons/source-python/packages/source-python/__init__.py by the one I gave in this post should prints out the exact error on the console (since the logging system cannot be setup correctly) and if my assumptions are right, you should receive an OSError with permission issues.

It did. You just don't have +developer 1 added to your startup cmdline.
